Section 508 refers to a portion of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d) that requires Federal agencies to meet specific accessibility standards when buying, developing, maintaining, or using information technology. This law was enacted to eliminate barriers in the provision of electronic information for people with disabilities and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. 2. eQuorum Corporation

2.1 Statement of Compliance with Section 508 Requirements

eQuorum Corporation is committed to providing high-quality products and services that are both useful and economically accessible to all potential users, including individuals with disabilities. As such, eQuorum supports the goals of the U.S. government in implementing Federal regulations directed at broadening the availability of electronically delivered information.

2.2 eQuorum Section 508 Compliance Plan

eQuorum expects to satisfy Section 508 accessibility requirements by implementing the following plan:

(a)Provide full disclosure of the Section 508-compliant status of our products in conformance with applicable accessibility legislation.

(b)Design our software products to promote maximum accessibility by the widest range of users as a fundamental component of feature functionality; however achieving the goals established by the Section 508 regulations will be the result of a partnership effort between government agencies, their suppliers of software and hardware, and information technology service professionals.

(c)Evaluate our software products against the accessibility standards set forth in implementing regulations. eQuorum intends to help Federal organizations meet these objectives by providing software applications that function within the accessibility standards. The actual compliance of any given application will be dependent upon the intended use of the application and the fact that some of eQuorum's products utilize graphical user interfaces, making unlimited compliance more difficult. Further, the accessibility compliance of the hardware and software components with which our software inter-operates is beyond our control. Operating systems originally had Command Line Interfaces and text based screens. Commands were input in text. Many applications were text-based applications, utilizing the command line of an operating system and providing textual rather than graphical data. Most Assistive Technology programs are able to read such text. However the trend has been to produce graphical user interfaces and these cause significant additional challenges to accessibility. The industry is in the process of moving to provide both software programs and Assistive Technology that will fully inter-operate; however this is likely to take several years. Therefore, the agency purchasing software will need to be aware of interoperability issues when assessing its needs.
