Coming Soon...

What's planned for the next release ?

As always, there are lots of new things in the pipeline for our next release, and ImageSite 5.1 is not that far off. The next release of ImageSite is scheduled for February 2004.

Version 5.1 includes extensive enhancements for AutoCAD and Microstation CAD reference file support. A new “local workspace” concept makes checking out, updating, and checking in revisions to ImageSite documents a breeze.

The next release also includes a new full text searching module (priced separately). This module allows the contents of documents to be searched. Full text searching is common for business documents like Word or PDF files, but ImageSite will take this feature a big step beyond most document management products and allow text searches to be performed for words within AutoCAD and MicroStation files!

Built-in Database

MSDE Support

ImageSite 5.0 supports the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000), a data engine built and based on core SQL Server technology. With support for single- and dual-processor desktop computers, MSDE 2000 is a reliable storage engine and query processor for ImageSite. Designed to run in the background, supporting transactional desktop applications, MSDE 2000 does not have its own user interface (UI) or tools. Users interact with MSDE 2000 through the ImageSite application.

Conditional Stamping

ImageSite's powerful conditional stamping engine enables the automatic or manual generation of print watermarks based on system-defined settings. Up to 9 watermarks can be enabled for each document being printed. Each watermark can be configured with its own location, density, and content. ImageSite's watermarks can be text or image based. Watermarks can be automated at the system level and driven by conditional statements such as attribute values and digital signature settings. Individual users can also establish watermarks manually if the system manager enables that option.

Conditional settings can be established to print specified watermarks based on the values of any document attribute within the system. As attributes are revised, the watermarks printed over documents are automatically updated and generated based on their conditional settings.

ImageSite Workflow (Priced Separately)

ImageSite 5.0 includes a major new workflow subsystem to automate multi-step business processes. While ImageSite's distribution, collaboration and printing features provide significant benefits to users in an ad-hoc mode, ImageSite Workflow leverages these features for even greater benefit through the automation of structured business processes. When enabled through ImageSite Workflow, users are ensured that business critical tasks will be performed consistently, with time based measurements and reporting to track task-based or project-based schedules.

Workflow tasks link directly to ImageSite documents and their markups to enable timely review and resolution of business issues. A wide variety of workflows and schedules can be automated though ImageSite. For example, ImageSite Workflow automates the distribution, response, and resolution of requests for information (RFIs) between multiple organizations working on common projects. The same module can be used to automate an engineering change request (ECR) process or a document review and release process. ImageSite automatically notifies users with pending workflow tasks through email notification and with a workflow inbox. ImageSite provides excellent tracking of all workflow actions from task creation to completion. As a web-based workflow solution, business processes that span independent organizations can be linked together as seamlessly as processes within any one organization.

Template Manager

ImageSite's new Project Template features allow complete project definitions, including users, groups, security settings, user interface settings, standards documents, etc., to be conveniently used and re-used as new project collaboration workspaces are required to support active projects.

ImageSite uniquely combines the best features of large archive document management systems and active project collaboration systems. Hundreds of thousands, or millions of documents can be managed, allowing users to conveniently find, view, mark-up, distribute and integrate archived engineering plans into their everyday work processes. At the same time, ImageSite supports active-project based collaboration where a variety of users can check-in, check-out, distribute, mark-up and collaborate in a highly interactive environment.

Enhanced Plotting

ImageSite 5.0 adds a number of enhanced printing options, allowing users to print documents quickly with minimal mouse clicks through the use of default print settings, while also allowing users to also have a wide range of print options which meet the widest possible set printing requirements.

In addition, ImageSite 5.0 supports the delivery of print jobs in ReproDesk™ format. This allows organizations that already use ReproDesk™ as their production print solution to plug an ImageSite system in for engineering document management, distribution and printing and directly drive their existing ReproDesk™ based production workflow.

Expanded Revision Subsystem

While the tracking of document versions (revisions) is an important element of any document management system, for many companies, it is a much more complicated task for engineering documents than for typical business documents. ImageSite 5.0 includes an expanded versions subsystem oriented to the many complexities of large format document versioning. This allows system managers to create any number of arbitrary version schemes from which the system will automatically progress documents from version to version. The result is a level of configurability that enables ImageSite to be used with nearly any historical or proposed engineering document versioning system.

The criteria that ImageSite uses to automatically determine whether a document is new to the system, or is a new version of an existing document, is highly configurable, allowing ImageSite to be tailored to any organization's requirements. Documents can be entered into the ImageSite repository without regard to their current version value and later reordered with version numbers redefined to reflect their true version history. Administrative controls can be set to allow users to check-in back versions of documents, or only forward versions of new documents. Finally, ImageSite can compose the display names of documents themselves using rules, which generate the document names from attributes entered into the system. This gives customers a high degree of flexibility when uploading, archiving, searching, and managing the document versioning process.

Expanded ImageSite Configurability

As an entirely web-based application, ImageSite's ability to stream a highly configured user interface to each user at display time is a powerful feature. This allows users to only see those features that they require, and only see that data that they are authorized to use. This level of configurability allows ImageSite to be set up to effectively support a wide range of end users from sophisticated collaboration users, to occasional find, view and print users. This range of configurability allows ImageSite to be deployed in all types of organizations without the expensive and time-consuming software programming that is often required in competitive systems.

ImageSite 5.0 expands on this important concept by allowing the user interface to be conveniently directed to a folder based explorer mode and an attribute based searching mode based on each user's configuration. ImageSite's Outbasket, the user interface focused on printing, downloading or outbound data extraction, can be configured to provide the specific level of functionality required by individual users or groups.

The ImageSite search user interface can be configured to display only the attribute data that is important to end users organized in a way which makes searching most convenient. Similarly, search results can be configured for the most effective displays including settings to determine which data is presented and how the search results are sorted.

System Administration Enhancements

ImageSite 5.0 provides numerous administration enhancements that make it more convenient for authorized user so find, move, copy, delete, revise, adjust, and attribute large numbers of documents stored in the repository. Rapid indexing allows users to systematically review each document, zoom to a particular viewing location, and conveniently index the document with appropriate attributes. Global attribute changes can be made to entire projects, folders, subfolders or selected documents.

back

Enhanced Data Integration

ImageSite is a powerful engineering document distribution engine, allowing business critical data to be leveraged throughout an enterprise. The source of that data varies greatly from organization to organization and often includes archived scanned images, active CAD drawings, data stored in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, and data stored in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. ImageSite 5.0 continues to expand its data integration capacities with new methods to automatically upload documents and attributes from external systems into ImageSite for electronic distribution, collaboration or distributed printing. New features support direct access by Xerox scanner solutions, enabling documents to be automatically uploaded to an ImageSite repository upon scanning.

ImageSite 5.0 also supports a CSV-based search that allows Bills of Material (BOMs) generated by 3rd party PLM or ERP systems to automatically generate print sets for electronic or printed paper distribution. BOMs that are searched using this new ImageSite feature also provide the user with a list of documents not found from the search, enabling users to check their paper archives to ensure that complete document sets are uploaded into ImageSite for distribution.

back

SAP Integration Ready

ImageSite 5.0 can be directly interfaced to SAP's PLM module for document management through the additional purchase of the SAP Connector. Enhancements to ImageSite enable it to be launched directly from SAP via the Connector module, enabling ImageSite to be used as a viewing, distribution, collaboration, and print engine while leveraging the document management capabilities of SAP.

Increased Performance

Much like the ongoing quality improvement initiatives by our customers, eQuorum tries to take advantage of system performance increasing enhancements whenever the opportunity arises. The speed of document display, and robust collaboration, distribution and printing performance was a critical decision criteria for most customers who selected ImageSite as their engineering document management system. ImageSite 5.0 continues to provide performance enhancements that are important to many of our large customers who have thousands of users, and hundreds of thousands, or millions of documents. These improvements utilize the latest web server and database interface technologies, and database indexing capabilities that allow users to speed up searches based on active data searching patterns.
