eQuorum Releases ImageSite 8.0
Extensive ImageSite Windows Explorer Enhancements
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - October 15, 2009-Quorum Corporation today announced the availability of ImageSite® Version 8.0, a major new release of its Web-based document management software solution.
ImageSite [Windows] Explorer (ISE)
- The ISE User Interface has been enhanced to include intuitive graphical icons and a logical command structure which includes the following command structure:
- Open
- Open (with options)
- Get
- View
- Search
- Show Last Results
- Manage Logins
- Help
- Refresh
- Properties
- The Open command is the default Windows command
that is directly used when a user "single clicks" on a
document. This is a "sticky command", meaning that it
utilizes the last type of Open command as defined by the
"Open (with options)" selection. Options for the Open
command include:
- (Open) Local
- (Open) Download
- (Open) Check-out
- The Get command allows users to "get" document
from the ImageSite server without launching them
to their native application. Options for the Get
command include:
- (Get) Download
- (Get) Check-out
- The Check-in command works similarly to the Open command, with the last "sticky" check-in options used when
Check-in is directly selected each time. New check-in options provided with this release of ImageSite Explorer
include:
- (Check-in) Delete Local Copy
- (Check-in) Keep Local Copy
- (Check-in) Do Not Keep Checked Out
- (Check-in) Keep Checked Out
- ImageSite Client 64-bit Windows Support
- ImageSite Client installations are available several different varieties to provide administrators flexibility in deploying the application. A setup.exe is provided which include all prerequisites and ImageSite Client components needed for 32- or 64-bit systems. The setup.exe provides the simplest method to deploy the application to individuals that have local administrator privileges. As an alternative, MSI's which do not include prerequisites (Visual Studio 2008 C++ Redistributables) are provided separately for 32 and 64-bit clients. The MSI's are useful for system administrators who want to deploy the application via a Windows Group Policy.
- ISE can connect through proxy servers from a client network to a remote ImageSite (web) Server.
- Domain Security Logons are supported in ImageSite Explorer (if this optional module is enabled in ImageSite)
- ISE users can download an ImageSite folder, which will download all descendant documents of that folder.
- ISE now includes full CAD reference file support (AutoCAD, MicroStation, and SolidWorks), including automatic reference file detection and uploading and linking of CAD files with their correct reference file links.
- An AutoCAD ISE Client capability is now available to allow direct check-in/out AutoCAD files to and from ImageSite while the user is working within AutoCAD itself.
- Support access to ImageSite (checkout and open, save to ImageSite) by all applications through the use of the standard File Open/SaveAs dialogs.
- ISE has been enhanced to enable convenient review, assignment, and changes to document metadata for multiple documents at a time.
- The ISE Properties menu is automatically displayed when one or many documents are uploaded to ImageSite through ISE. The metadata for newly uploaded documents are displayed based upon their automatic assignment within ImageSite, as determined by custom field default values and/or metadata propagation
assignment rules.
- All document properties are displayed when a single file (document) is selected, and common document properties are displayed when multiple files (documents) are selected. Some or all values for one document can conveniently be displayed and then assigned to one or many other documents.
- Enable ImageSite Conditional Metadata (Conditional Fields) as supported through the traditional ImageSite web (browser) user interface.
- ISE provides an easy to use calendar widget for entering date values.
- ISE now includes a number of new status and progress capabilities that are enabled automatically for users during
document uploads (check-in) and downloads (check-out or download).
- A new system tray notification capability confirms success or notifies of problems with document uploads or
downloads.
- A new status bar provides users with dynamic feedback during each upload and downloads file transmission
process.
- The "show last results" command can be used to display the detailed information regarding the last file upload or
download.
- The actual results display provides detailed confirmation of success, or an indication of any problems that may
have occurred during file uploads and downloads.
- A conflict detection capability is enabled within ISE that warns users before ISE overwrites any existing files.
While ImageSite system settings can be adjusted to affect how documents are downloaded to users, in general,
files that are "checked-out" of ImageSite are transmitted to the user in Read-Write mode, while files that are
"downloaded" from ImageSite are transmitted to the user as Read Only files. ImageSite warns users before
overwriting existing Read-Write files to prevent accidental loss of work.
- ISE includes a comprehensive account management user interface that provides users with convenient access to
multiple ImageSite systems though various user logins and passwords.
